For those of you in the Chicagoland area or for the devoted White Sox fans living across the nation, we know the dedication our home team has for our military members. At each home game, the White Sox honor a member of the military as part of their Hero of the Game program. The military member can be actively serving or a retired veteran of any branch of the United States military. These honored service members are nominated by family members, members of the community, and anyone who wants to show special appreciation to them for keeping our country safe.
June 28th 2018 was a perfect day to extend gratitude to those men and women who have not returned home. Rolling Thunder Chapter 2, Illinois was honored to participate in the unveiling of the POW/MIA Chair of Honor. The White Sox will hold this seat empty to serve as a memorial for service members who are or were prisoners of war and for those who remain missing in action. As families and friends enjoy watching the White Sox play, they will be reminded of the cost of today’s freedom protected by our service members serving today, tomorrow, and yesterday.
